Ramona United Methodist Church 3394 Chapel Lane, Ramona, California 92065-3640 Phone 1-760-789-7106 MISSION OUTREACH AT RAMONA UMCCast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days. Ecclesiastes 11:1 Missions are a vital part of the United Methodist Church. We have a strong outreach program rooted firmly in the Word of God. We are concerned about our community and those around the world. Our San Diego District Superintendent leads Mission Area Summits in the various areas in our San Diego District. These gatherings of churches celebrate all that we are doing in our congregations and communities and discuss how we might expand our ministries. Ramona United Methodist Church activities are many and varied: We built a new shed at the Ramona In His Steps home.
Painting the deck at the Ramona Michael's House was one of our community projects.
We helped to build a Habitat For Humanity house in Ramona, involving volunteers from our congregation, friends, as well as Navy and Marine personnel.
Our Habitat Project in Ramona
We have supported the Guatemala Project with the purchase of handcrafted items. RUMC funded and sent a team of electricians to Arizona to install wiring for Naomi House, a Navajo orphanage. RUMC supported a team that rebuilt homes in Biloxi, Mississippi. We join in partnership with Heifer International in a long-term project to fill an Ark with animals in order to help families around the world.
Internationally, through a covenant relationship with the California-Pacific Conference Missionaries, we give to the Siberia Far East District Missionary. In addition, projects along the Mexico border, through our Methodist Joint Commission, hurricane relief, In His Steps ministries, Ramona Open Door Dinner, Ramona Head Start, Ramona Senior Center, Ramona Angels, and Ramona Cancer Resource are some of the ways we serve.
RAMONA UMC TURKEY DINNER After our Sunday worship service on November 16, 2008, at the Ramona Senior Center, 434 Aqua Lane, our 27th annual turkey dinner was served from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. At this dinner we served 900 meals at the center and sent out 400 meals to those in the community. Over 600 meals were given to families who may not have been able to afford a Thanksgiving dinner. Our turkey dinner began as a mission project and has grown to be a great community service. Through ticket sales to members, friends and family, we serve complimentary meals to the homeless, families in need, the home-bound, In His Steps, Michael's House and many others. 100% of the proceeds go to mission support.

HOSPITAL VISITING TEAM Our church members will make visits to someone going through medical care. They will wait with families while procedures are performed on loved ones. Contact the church office when the need arises. UNITED METHODIST WOMEN RUMW mission funds have supported families in our community. Support has been extended to the Adopt-A-Family program, Easter baskets for Head Start children, In His Steps ministries, Little People's Learning Center, and Habitat for Humanity. Prayer blankets and quilts have been made for individuals in need. CALIFORNIA-PACIFIC ANNUAL CONFERENCE For the fifth year in a row, Ramona UMC received a congratulatory certificate from our California-Pacific Annual Conference as a Missionary Supporting Church. Our stewardship theme for 2009: "Irresistible Invitation: Living and Giving in Response to God's Extravagant Love" RUMC's ongoing mission commitment is that God's reign of mercy and love might be realized in places far and near. RUMC owns a ball field, which is often shared with the community through our outreach. It is maintained and operated by ball field commissioners, who are members of the church. These commissioners do all scheduling. Park and Ride: Portions of our church parking areas are offered for the Park and Ride program.
